Gangnam Festival 2026
The essentials first: whether it is open, what it costs, how hard it is to reach and what to expect if you do not speak Korean.

Is this one for you?
Who it suits. This suits visitors who want a large, free, city-centre festival with a genuine K-POP concert headline — the October 4 stage ends with PSY and a run of idol acts including ZEROBASEONE and P1Harmony — plus a street parade, a fashion-and-beauty zone and a food-and-beer festa within walking distance of each other. It is a poor fit for anyone hoping for a quiet cultural outing or a traditional Korean festival: this is a busy, commercial, urban event on a closed six-lane avenue, and the marquee concert is by advance reservation rather than turn-up-and-watch. If crowds and road closures put you off, this is not the trip.
When to go. Pick your day by what you came for. October 3 is the parade (16:00-18:00) and the family concert (from 19:00); October 4 is the K-POP concert (pre-show 18:00, main set roughly 19:00-21:00) and the daytime Fashion & Beauty Festa (14:30-20:00). October 5 shifts entirely to Bongeunsa for a morning marathon and an evening temple-music concert. If the K-POP concert is the reason for the trip, secure the Ticketlink reservation the moment it opens on September 22, because the free concert is the part most likely to run out of space.

The Gangnam Festival is Seoul’s largest district-run street festival, and for 2026 it runs October 3-5. The Korea Tourism Organization lists the address as 320 Dosan-daero in Gangnam-gu, and the organiser, Gangnam-gu, has moved the 15th edition onto Dosan-daero — the wide avenue running past Dosan Park — after previous years centred on Yeongdong-daero. The result is a festival that closes a major road and fills it with a parade, K-POP and family concerts, a fashion-and-beauty zone and a food-and-beer festa, then hands the final day to Bongeunsa for a marathon and a temple-music concert.
This is an urban, commercial, K-culture event rather than a traditional or regional festival. That is worth knowing before you go: the appeal is a free concert with real headliners, street energy and easy subway access, not folk performance or a quiet cultural day out.

What you actually do here
The spine of the festival is the grand parade on October 3, 16:00-18:00, running roughly two kilometres from the Cheongdam intersection to the Dosan Park intersection. The organiser has built it around seven themed sections, with residents from the district’s neighbourhoods preparing costumes and props for each theme. It is a participatory, community parade rather than a professional street-theatre production, and it sets up the evening concerts that follow on the same stretch.
After the parade, the programme splits by day. On October 3 a family concert runs from about 19:00 to 21:00 near the Hyundai Motorstudio stage, with a veteran-pop bill; the same night a traditional-music performance is held at Maru Park in Gaepo-dong, and an EDM party runs 21:30-22:30 at the Hakdong-intersection stage. On October 4 the headline K-POP Concert takes over the main stage: a pre-show from 18:00, then the main set through the evening, ending with PSY. Across both days, a Fashion & Beauty Festa near Dosan Park (14:30-20:00 on the 4th), a K-Food and beer festa along the avenue (festa zones from 10:00 to 22:00), and dance events — a global K-POP cover-dance challenge, a dance workshop and random-play dance — fill the daytime hours.
The photographs on this page show the setting rather than the festival: Dosan Park at the centre of it, the nearby Sinsa-dong Garosu-gil and Apgujeong Rodeo streets that give this part of Gangnam its fashion-district character, and Bongeunsa, which hosts the closing day.

Programme and timetable
The published daily shape is clear enough to plan around, even though exact stage times can still shift.
Saturday, October 3 is parade-and-family-concert day. Daytime brings a K-POP cover-dance challenge and a makeup show near Dosan Park and a dance workshop by the Hakdong intersection; the grand parade runs 16:00-18:00; the family concert follows from about 19:00; and the night finishes with the EDM party. The traditional-music performance at Maru Park runs in the evening as a separate strand away from the main avenue.
Sunday, October 4 is the K-POP-concert and fashion day. The Fashion & Beauty Festa runs 14:30-20:00 near Dosan Park, with designer and celebrity segments and hair-and-makeup shows; a global food competition and random-play dance run by the Hakdong intersection; and the K-POP Concert builds from an 18:00 pre-show into the main set, closing with PSY. The confirmed 2026 concert lineup is LUN8, SAY MY NAME, ALPHA DRIVE ONE, ZEROBASEONE, KiiiKiii and P1Harmony, with PSY as the finale.
Monday, October 5 leaves Dosan-daero entirely. The Gangnam International Peace Marathon starts around Bongeunsa in the morning (from about 08:00), and a temple-music concert at Bongeunsa closes the festival in the evening (from about 18:00). If you are planning a single-day visit, this is the day to skip unless the marathon or the temple concert is your reason for coming, because none of the parade-and-concert programme happens on the 5th.
Because the concerts and headline events are fixed to specific hours, this is not a festival where wandering in “sometime in the afternoon” reliably lands you at the thing you wanted. Decide which day and which event first, then build the rest of the visit around it.

Tickets and booking
General admission to the festival is free — the parade, the festa zones, the fashion and dance events, and the street programme cost nothing to walk up to. The part that needs planning is the October 4 K-POP Concert. It is a free public concert, but access is by an advance online reservation that Gangnam-gu released on September 22, 2026 at 20:00 through Ticketlink. Free does not mean unlimited: a reserved-entry concert can reach capacity on reservations alone, so a same-day visitor without one may not get into the concert area.
If the concert is your priority, treat the reservation as the trip’s first booking, ahead of anything else. For the October 3 family concert and the other stages, this guide does not claim a separate ticketing process because none was confirmed beyond the K-POP concert’s Ticketlink release; check the official site’s programme page for any seating instructions close to the dates.

Getting there without a car
This is an intra-Seoul event, so “getting there” means a short subway ride from wherever you are in the city rather than an intercity journey. For the Dosan-daero and Dosan Park core, the closest stations are Apgujeongrodeo on the Suin-Bundang Line, Sinsa and Apgujeong on Line 3, and Hakdong on Line 7 near the Hakdong-intersection stages. The Cheongdam-intersection end of the parade is closer to the Line 7 and Suin-Bundang stations around Gangnam-gu Office and Cheongdam.
For the October 5 programme, Bongeunsa is served by Bongeunsa Station on Line 9 and Samseong Station on Line 2, on the other side of Gangnam from Dosan-daero — budget a separate subway trip rather than assuming it is a short walk from the main festival area.
Driving is the wrong choice on October 3-4. With Dosan-daero closed and surrounding traffic diverted, Gangnam-gu is explicitly asking visitors to use public transport, and the subway drops you within a few minutes’ walk of the stages.
Road closures and crowds
The single most important logistical fact for 2026 is the road closure. Because the main stage moved from Yeongdong-daero to Dosan-daero, the controlled area is larger than in past years. Korean news outlets reported in mid-September that Dosan-daero will be closed in both directions across all lanes between the Hakdong intersection and the Dosan Park intersection during the October 3-4 event, with the total control period cited at roughly 53 hours and staged closures beginning before the festival itself. Gangnam-gu has repeatedly urged visitors to use public transport and warned of bus-route diversions in the area. This was reported consistently across several outlets, so treat it as reliable — but confirm the exact hours on the official traffic-notice page before you travel, because staged closures change through the weekend.
Crowds concentrate where and when the headline events happen: the parade route in the late afternoon of October 3, and the concert area on the evenings of both days. A free, reservation-based K-POP concert ending with PSY is likely to be the densest point of the festival. Agree on a meeting point before you split up, keep children clear of the edge of a moving crowd near the stages, and do not book a tight onward connection immediately after the concert — leaving a closed-road area with tens of thousands of other people is slow.
Honest assessment
The strength of the Gangnam Festival is that it delivers a genuinely big, free, central-Seoul event with a real concert headline. Closing Dosan-daero for a parade, a fashion festa and a K-POP stage that ends with PSY is a substantial offer for no admission price, and the subway access is as good as it gets in Korea. For a visitor who wants a lively city festival that needs no travel beyond a Seoul metro ride, it is an easy recommendation.
The weaknesses are the flip side of the same qualities. This is a commercial, crowded, road-closing event, not a traditional or scenic one; if you came to Korea for folk performance or a calm cultural day, this is not it. The best single component — the October 4 concert — is gated behind a reservation that opened on September 22, so the “free” headline can be effectively full by the time a casual visitor arrives. And the three days are not interchangeable: October 5 is a marathon-and-temple-music day at Bongeunsa with none of the parade-and-concert programme, so a visitor who turns up on the 5th expecting the festa will be disappointed.
The fair plan is to choose a day by its headline, book the K-POP reservation immediately if that is your target, arrive by subway, and expect the crowd. Do that and it is one of the more rewarding free events in Seoul; treat it as a turn-up-anytime street fair and the closures and reservations will work against you.
Questions worth asking
When is the 2026 Gangnam Festival and where is it held?
October 3-5, 2026. The main programme is on Dosan-daero and around Dosan Park in Gangnam-gu on October 3-4, with a fashion-and-beauty zone, a food-and-beer festa, a street parade and concerts. On October 5 the festival moves to Bongeunsa for an international peace marathon in the morning and a temple-music concert in the evening.
Is the Gangnam Festival free, and do I need a ticket?
General admission is free. The October 4 K-POP Concert is also a free public concert, but it needs an advance online reservation that was released on September 22, 2026 at 20:00 through Ticketlink. Turn up without a reservation and you may not get into the concert area, even though there is no ticket price.
Who is performing at the 2026 K-POP concert?
The October 4 concert lineup announced by Gangnam-gu includes LUN8, SAY MY NAME, ALPHA DRIVE ONE, ZEROBASEONE, KiiiKiii and P1Harmony, with PSY closing the show. The October 3 family concert is a separate, more veteran-pop bill featuring names such as Nam Jin, Lim Chang-jung, Roo'ra, Kim Won-jun and Hong Kyung-min. Check the official site before travelling in case a name changes.
How do I get there, and how bad are the road closures?
Use the subway. The main area is reached from Apgujeongrodeo (Suin-Bundang Line), Sinsa or Apgujeong (Line 3) and Hakdong (Line 7). Korean news reported that Dosan-daero is closed in both directions between the Hakdong and Dosan Park intersections across the October 3-4 event, for roughly 53 hours in total, and Gangnam-gu is asking visitors to avoid driving.
What is there to do besides the concerts?
The grand parade runs from the Cheongdam intersection to the Dosan Park intersection (about 2 km) on October 3 from 16:00 to 18:00. Alongside it are a Fashion & Beauty Festa near Dosan Park, a K-Food and beer festa along the avenue, dance events including a global K-POP cover-dance challenge and random-play dance, and a traditional-music performance at Maru Park. October 5 adds the marathon and temple-music concert at Bongeunsa.
