The Yeosu Night Sea Fireworks Festival is Yeosu’s marquee fireworks night over the water. KTO says it began in 2016 and has become the city’s representative festival. For 2026 it takes place on a single evening, Saturday, October 31, at the Yeosu World Expo grounds, and admission is free.
One thing matters for planning this year. Press reports tie the programme to the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo and give it an island theme: an overseas fireworks team has been invited to interpret Yeosu’s islands and sea, with performances before and after the show. The Expo itself runs for 61 days through November 4, so on October 31 the fireworks fall inside its final week.

What you actually do here
The core of the evening is standing outdoors and watching a maritime fireworks display. KTO describes fireworks over the sea, with the lights of the city and the water adding to the view, and says performances and entertainment are laid on at the festival site besides the fireworks themselves. Reports mention pre-show and post-show performances, but no 2026 lineup has been named, so this guide names no performer.
The second element is food. A 2026 Yeosu Island Food Festival is reported near the venue at the Expo Digital Gallery, with performances and local food on an island and sea theme. No menu, price or opening hours have been published, which means it is a reason to arrive hungry, not something to organise a dinner around.
Nothing here requires a ticket or advance booking, and no reserved paid viewing has been announced. That keeps the plan simple, but it also means there is no seat waiting for you.
Programme and timetable
KTO lists the operating window as 19:00-21:10. That figure appears only in the KTO record; the press reports found for this guide give the date, venue and theme but no clock times. Treat 19:00 as the earliest start and check the organiser’s final notice in the last days before the event.
No order of events has been confirmed: not when any ceremony or opening performance happens, not how long the fireworks last inside the 130-minute window, and not when the post-show performances run. A single organiser line is listed for questions: Yeosu City, +82-61-664-4772.
Tickets, fees and booking
General entry is free according to KTO. There is no booking step for the fireworks, and no reserved or paid viewing zone had been announced at the time of writing.
One point could not be settled: the festival is linked to the World Island Expo, which has its own exhibitions. Whether any Expo area inside the grounds needs an Expo ticket on the night was not confirmed in any source. If you want to enter an Expo exhibition hall, check the Expo’s own ticketing rather than assuming the fireworks festival covers it.
Getting there without a car
Take a direct KTX from Yongsan or Seoul Station to Yeosu Expo Station. Travel listings put the journey at about 2 hours 48 minutes to 3 hours depending on the train. The station is on the city’s northern waterfront beside the Expo grounds, so the final leg is a short walk rather than a transfer. That is a real advantage over most Korean festivals, where the station and the venue are far apart.
The practical problem comes after the show. Fireworks end at about 21:10 on KTO’s schedule, and a large crowd then heads for the same station. The last KTX back to Seoul was not verified for October 31, so look up the exact departure in Korail before buying the outbound ticket. Buy the return seat at the same time if you intend to leave that night.
Parking, shuttles and traffic control
A 2026 plan for parking, shuttles and road closures had not been published when this guide was written, and the official site showed only the festival title. Do not assume last year’s arrangement applies.
For comparison only, the 2025 edition was held on November 8 at a different site, around Yi Sun-sin Square and the sea off Janggun Island. Reports then said more than 150,000 visitors were expected, about 630 safety staff were deployed, 20 public and temporary lots with room for about 3,543 cars were opened, two shuttle lines linked the lots to the site, and city buses ran an hour longer. Because the 2026 venue is the Expo grounds, those numbers say how Yeosu has handled crowds before, not what you will find on the night. Betanews reports that safety staffing and on-site response will be expanded this year, with no figures given.
If you drive, the safer assumption is that parking near the venue will be hard on a Saturday night. Rail is the more predictable option.
Day trip or overnight
A day trip from Seoul is possible in principle because the rail trip is under three hours, but whether it works depends on a train time this guide could not confirm. With fireworks ending around 21:10 and a crowd to get through, check the last departure from Yeosu Expo Station on October 31 first. If the last train is too early, stay the night.
Treat an overnight stay as something to book now. It is a Saturday, the Expo is still running, and no accommodation prices or availability were checked for this guide, so no hotel is recommended.
Food on site and nearby
The reported Island Food Festival at the Expo Digital Gallery is the one confirmed food programme. Its menu and prices were not published.
For a dish with a documented local identity, Yeosu City lists gat kimchi, made from mustard greens, first among its ten signature Yeosu foods and describes a sharp, tangy taste. Dolsan mustard greens are the variety Yeosu is known for. The same city list includes soy-sauce crab with rice and a seodae raw-fish dish. These are town-wide foods, not a promise about what the festival stalls will sell, so eat in the city centre if a proper meal matters.
Honest assessment
The attraction is simple: a free fireworks show over open water, with an island theme this year and an overseas team invited, and a train station within walking distance of the venue. That last point removes the usual obstacle of getting to a Korean festival without a car.
The weaknesses are about information and crowds. As of October 19 the official site shows only a title, the only clock times come from KTO, and there is no confirmed timetable, shuttle plan, viewing-area map or parking notice for 2026. The festival is also a single night, so rain, wind or a bad position cannot be fixed by returning the next day. No weather or postponement policy was found, so check the organiser’s notice on the day.
Go if you want a fireworks night and can manage the logistics: arrive early, decide your return train before the show, and book a bed if the last train is too early. Skip it if you need a seat, a fast exit or a fixed schedule.
